More and more faculty are getting excited to vote union Yes in our upcoming election. We wanted to share a statement released today from faculty across 22 USC schools urging “our colleagues to join us in voting yes for United Faculty-UAW.”

This statement and its signatories reflect the diversity of skills, fields, and expertise we bring to USC’s unique, world-renowned educational mission. It is because of our commitment to this core mission that so many of us plan to vote YES for a stronger faculty voice.
Without a union, the administration has made unilateral changes to our working conditions in recent years that have made it harder to do the work we all care about. With a union, and specifically by uniting across our many schools and titles, we could have greater power to protect the things we like, and make improvements in the areas that are important to us – like many of our faculty colleagues across the U.S. have done in recent years.
Faculty in similarly large and diverse workforces have bargained contracts with significant improvements for all, while protecting specificity by school, department, title and rank where that mattered. Please look at our updated FAQ that includes a summary of how the NYU contract faculty incorporated locally-specific provisions into their contract under “How can one union contract accommodate so many different departments and job titles?”
We hope you join us in voting YES for a stronger faculty voice and a stronger USC!
As a reminder, ballots will be sent out this Friday, and must be received at the regional NLRB by May 15th. We encourage all faculty to make an informed choice on this important vote – find more info and FAQs on our website, and don’t forget to RSVP to our next town hall this Thursday at 11am.
Sincerely,
The UF-UAW Organizing Committee
