Big news! The regional office of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has just decided that RTPC faculty can vote on forming our union. The decision states that all RTPC faculty – including full-time, part-time, and adjunct faculty across all schools except at the Keck School of Medicine – will have the right to vote in an election expected in April. The exact date will be determined; more details below.

This is a huge win for us. Despite USC’s efforts to deny our union rights, a majority of RTPC faculty have consistently supported unionization since Fall 2024. In 2025, a majority of full and part time faculty also signed an open letter urging USC to stop opposing our democratic union rights. We have the majority on our side, we have the law on our side, and we are confident we will win.

Next up: our election! The regional NLRB plans to hold the election the week of April 13th or April 20th, 2026, over the course of two days, with one location on UPC and one on HSC. We expect to meet with the regional NLRB and USC ASAP to determine the exact dates.

With the drastic cuts and changes over the last year, it’s more important than ever that we vote yes to win our union – and we urge USC to respect the results and bargain with us in good faith if a majority vote yes.

Now that we have an election decision, faculty across campus will begin making get out the vote plans. The more of us who vote YES, the stronger mandate we’ll have to bargain with USC. Keep an eye out for more info soon to come. The time to win our union is now – see you at the polls!
