We are coming up on the end of our election! If you haven’t voted yet, we encourage you to send in your ballot as soon as possible, and to vote yes.

Across schools and titles, we’re voting yes because together, we have the power to make changes we can’t make alone, and because we know that with a union we have a better chance at winning improvements that reflect our contributions to the University. As we close in on week 4 of our election, we also wanted to share some examples of the USC community’s support for our contributions, and for our voice as non-tenure-track faculty.

In the period following our regional NLRB decision, elected representatives across 5 bodies of government – from the U.S. Congress to the LA City CouncilBoard of SupervisorsState Senate, and State Assembly –  affirmed support for the value we bring to USC, and have urged the USC administration to bargain in good faith if faculty vote in favor of unionization. Campus leaders have also offered support, including fellow faculty in the AAUPthe Undergraduate Student Government, and over 4,000 other unionized academic workers on campus

Across the board, our supporters have drawn attention to the important work we do as faculty who serve the University’s clinical, education, and research missions, and who make it the world-renowned institution it is. We are honored to serve these missions, and it is precisely because we care deeply about them that we understand the importance of voting “yes” for a stronger faculty voice.

Remember to cast your ballot ASAP for it to be counted, and happy long weekend! If you’ve not yet decided how you’re planning to vote, you can find more helpful information on our website: unitedfaculty-uaw.org

Sincerely,

The United Faculty-UAW Organizing Committee
